Data Recovery from NAS, DAS, RAID and other data storage media
Data recovery and data rescue from NAS and other network storage media, servers and RAID storage arrays. We have many years of experience in data recovery and data rescue from all types of data media.
Have you lost access to important data?
Has your NAS, server, or RAID storage stopped working without warning ?
Do you waste precious hours of time while your business is standing still ?
Content guide
What you should do in case of storage failure
- Stay calm.
- Turn off the damaged device (NAS, server, computer ...).
- Keep/mark the NAS/RAID drives positions as they were at the time of the failure.
- Do not connect mechanically damaged drives (e.g., after a fall or impact) and do not make unprofessional attempts to access data.
- Take advantage of our free diagnostics and free collection of data media.
Professional data recovery from NAS and data rescue from NAS, as well as from other networked storage media, servers and RAID arrays: Exalab offers such data recovery services with many years of experience and using state-of-the-art technologies available on the market. Our engineers have already helped many clients to successfully recover their data when one or more drives in a device (RAID) had failed, or in case of a hardware error. Our rate for successful recovery from NAS and other network storage media has averaged out at 90% since long.
- We provide NAS, RAID and all other storage media diagnostics FOR FREE.
- We offer NAS and RAID data recovery for all RAID configurations and from all kinds of devices.
Time is money, especially for corporate clients who have important business data stored on their network storage. We have most of the parts needed to recover data from NAS and RAID in our stock. Depending on the type of NAS or RAID failure, our engineers can start working on the case within a short time.
Data recovery from NAS and RAID - fast diagnostics. For those who do not have time to waste
Consultation, diagnostics and collection are always free of charge.
- I can't access my data, but I have no idea of the cause. Take advantage of free consultation and diagnostics. Together we will find a solution.
- Failure of one or more drives: turn off the device, leave the drives in their original bays, or make a note of their positions in the storage device and take advantage of our free diagnostics. You can read more about the issue here.
- The device appears to work normally, but data is unavailable: contact us. Together we will discuss what could have happened and agree on further steps. You can read more about the issue here.
- After a drive failed, it was replaced, but something went wrong: contact us. Together we will discuss what could have happened and agree on further steps. You can read more about the issue here.
- Accidentally deleted data: do not continue to operate the device, as data may be irreversibly lost. Contact us, We will discuss the next steps together. You can read more about the issue here.
- Mechanical damage, natural disaster: do not operate the device or drives in any way, do not attempt to turn them on. Contact us to discuss the next steps.
Symptoms, causes, and price list by type of NAS, server or RAID damage
Failure of one or more drives
Symptoms:
- device is indicating failure of a drive or one or more drives are defective already
- data is partially or totally unavailable
Possible causes:
- natural wear of time
- manufacturing defect
- mechanical damage
- electrical short circuit damage, etc.
This category includes the most common defects in mechanical disk drives (HDD), which are:
- defective disc read heads
- damaged disk surface
- damaged drive electronics
For SSD:
- drive controller failure
- defective memory blocks
Less common drive defects in NAS, servers or RAID are:
- seized drive motor (HDD)
- stuck heads (HDD)
- mechanical damage
- natural disaster
- defective electronics (both HDD and SSD)
Estimated Price:
from 1,000 EUR, free diagnostics
In the event of a failure of one or more drives in a NAS, server, or disk array the cost can range from 1000 EUR to hundreds of thousands in the case of large enterprise disk arrays. Of course, we will inform you of the final price in advance. You always get the diagnostics and collection free of charge and payment is due only in case of successful data recovery from NAS, server or disk array.
NAS controller, RAID, disk array failure
Symptoms:
- device reporting errors, data is unavailable
Possible causes:
- natural wear of time
- manufacturing defect
- electrical short circuit damage, etc.
Approximate price:
From 300 EUR, free diagnostics
A NAS, a server or any RAID array controller may fail, like any other electronics. Such failure is bound to make the data unavailable, and if you do not know exactly what you are doing, recovery attempts, such as using a different controller or attempting to build a RAID on another device, can irreversibly damage the RAID structure.
The cost of a NAS, RAID, or disk array failure depends on the amount of drives in the array, the disk array configuration, whether the client has tampered with the drives, and other factors. We'll tell you the exact price after free diagnostics. You always pay only in case of successful data recovery.
After drive/drives failure the array was not recalculated as expected
Symptoms:
- device reported drive or drives error, user replaced drives with new ones, a subsequent RAID recalculation failed and user data is unavailable.
Possible causes are:
- software error
- hardware error
- the human factor
Approximate price:
From 500 EUR, free diagnostics
As is the case with servers, some type of RAID is mostly configured in NAS also. Most RAID configurations are fault tolerant for one or more drives. In case of a drive failure, it is necessary to replace it immediately with a new one, after which the data is added to the newly added drive. And sometimes there may be an error if, for example, another drive in the array fails, the device itself (NAS, server) fails, or power fails during this operation. Another possible error could be a human factor if, for example, the administrator inserts drives in the device in the wrong order.
The price in such cases is individual and can be more accurately determined after free diagnostics. You always pay only in case of successful data recovery.
Unavailable data partition
Symptoms:
- Data stored on NAS, server or disk array cannot be accessed, but the cause is not obvious at first glance since the device appears to be functioning normally.
Possible causes:
- NAS / server hardware error
- failure of one or more drives
- NAS / server software error
- computer Virus
- the human factor
Approximate Price
From 300 EUR, free diagnostics
NAS nowadays usually use EXT, XFS or Btrfs filesystems based on Linux. In servers we can see NTFS, ReFS, EXT, XFS, JFS, Btrfs (and also others, only the most common ones are listed here). Additionally, multiple drives configured in RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, RAID 10, or some of the other possible variants are typically used in both NAS and servers.
In the case of unavailability of the data partition, when there is no obvious reason at first sight, it is never advisable to manipulate the device itself, or to change the device configuration or the drives order. From the user's point of view, the data partition, or simply the unit on which the data was stored, is missing. However, a data partition in a NAS, server or RAID is a more technologically sophisticated solution than a user might encounter, for example, within their home computer. Therefore, it is always better to consult with experts in the field of data recovery/data rescue. Do not hesitate to contact us for any questions regarding data recovery from NAS and servers, and of course consultation and diagnostics is free. You only pay for a successful data recovery.
Deleted data
Symptoms:
- You can not access the data stored on the NAS server or disk array, the cause is not obvious at first sight, the device is apparently functioning normally.
Possible causes:
- software error
- computer virus
- the human factor
Price:
From 300 EUR, free diagnostics
In the event of accidentally deleted data from a NAS or server, or if a fault is caused by a software error on the user's device side, it is often possible to proceed in the same way as for data deleted from a conventional disc (HDD) or SSD. Here too, care should be taken not to operate the device as is done usually. If the data was deleted and new data is written, then the original data may be overwritten and data recovery will no longer be possible.
A number of software tools are available to help the user to recover deleted data. Some are free, but in general, a user-friendly data recovery program capable of performing such data recovery will not be free.
If you are unsure of what you are doing, consult your data recovery experts in advance. You can also use our free diagnostics and if you decide to entrust us with data recovery or data rescue, of course you only pay for a successful recovery or rescue.
